New Trumpet Issue

    I believe he meant pushing half way down on your actual valve to build up a little bit of back pressure, not half way on the spit valve.

    Yes, the real valves, not the water keys. Those you push all the way.

    I have a xeno cornet with the same issue you just need to turn the instrument towards you two or three times and the water should come out of the bell, its no big issue and is quick to do, remove the mouthpiece firts though.
