Normal Playing Range

    normal playing range for me is about a g below double pedal C to A above High C.

    I agree - the high (and the low) are not as commonly called on as the "mid".
    I would guess that the low is actually more rarely called on, but again, depends on the part and the context.

    Most of the stuff I play is not charted, and I can count on an F above high C at the end of the gig. In our church "orchestra" we do Christian music that occasionally goes to an E above high C. I have also played F's that were given with a lower part also provided to choose from, but nothing higher. Based on that, I vote for low F# to F fourth space above the staff as the standad.
