    Hi guys,
Last night, I tried out a lightweight V-Raptor that my teacher owns and I absolutely loved it!!! He also said I sounded the best on that horn (I also played a Conn V1 and a Getzen Renaissance I had out on trial, a Calicchio, and a Schilke!), but he also said that if I'm thinking about getting a V-Raptor, I should get the normal weight one since the lightweight one is too bright for symphonic work. So, my question is, can I play a normal weight V-Raptor for both symphonic and jazz band (I'm only a sophomore in HS, but very serious about my trumpet playing :D )? Also, will the V-Raptor blend in with the Bachs and Yamahas and all the other trumpets in the section? Thanks for all the help!

Yes, that'll work, but you'll need to carefully pick your "legit" mouthpiece. That's a great horn, particularly if you like that step-bore design and play with precision.
