Greetings. I was wondering if year of production had any effect on the quality of Olds Ambassadors. I understand they are considered by many to be a fine student model. For example: is a 1955 Ambassador better than a 1967 Ambassador assuming both are in the same condition? Anyone that can share some insight on this would be appreciated.

It seems to me from what I have read that the bottom line Olds horns were all good until about 1970-71, when the valves were improperly or incompletely lapped after plating. I have also read that all of those that dealers and customers complained about were then relapped to bring them up to spec. If I am wrong, I am certain that I will soon be corrected.
