The Great Louis Prima and his Olds Recording.
YEAH!! Louie Prima... you can actually see him playing the Recording on some of his old videos. He gets a great sound from the horn. What a complete entertainment package he was!
Who was the girl singer he had? You can see a dent in that pic, shows that horn wasn't just a prop
That's the real McPrima McCoy Recording. Only a horn with "Recording" in it's name has the offset second valve configeration, unless it is a poor unsuspecting Olds Recording or Super Recording that has felt the bite of Dracula! Blaaahhh!
Keely Smith. Gotta love her voice! AND DRESS!!
He was the inspiration behind the Ape in the Disney "Jungle Book"
not just the inspiration... he did the song too
LOL @ Keely's expression to the band kick at :25 & :34
Yep the video does not lie.
If you check out many of the video's of Keely's expressions, they are priceless. She really knows how to counter and react to the high energy of Prima. In many, Prima actually models many of her subdued expressions. The energy between these two is priceless! Yep, that is what an off set second valve can do for you. I'm gonna be like you... Shubby, shubby, shubby, du, du, du... I'm gonna walk like you, talk like you, and even get crazy on the stage with the Eddie Brookshire Quintet like you...
Yep, that Olds Recording second valve offset can really do that to you. So now I gotta ask, how do I get the girl?
Wampum and a peacepipe. It might not hurt to play like Louis Prima (or sing like Frank Sinatra) either
