Only ever had 2 paid gigs, 1948 the band played at a football match, someone passed around a hat and we all got 1/- (10 cents), mid 1990s Jazz festival, 400 miles drive each way, got enough to pay for petrol one way $20.

    Regards, Stuart.

I usually don't get paid for any of my bands, since they're mostly community bands. With two of my bands we do ask money to play somewhere. Most of that money goes to paying the conductor, travel expenses, a barbecue at the end of the year, and what's left goes into the saving account of the band for later years. With one band we ask up to 1000 euro's per day (for the entire band obviously), and with the other up to 5000 per day. I've never seen a single cent of it though....
We do allways get free drinks and food everywhere we play.

So you stole the 5 dollars intended for the charity?

I don't think we need to go there.

Does this count? We played a paid wedding reception (made $200 a man for the gig), but the bride slipped a $20 into my paints AFTER squeezing my cheeks (and we are not talking upper cheeks).

Doctor was it your utterly charming nature and looks or had the bride drank too much champaign? Either way, much better than the money!

Do you not? Well I think the opposite. He should be made aware of his actions, and if he sees the error of his ways perhaps he'll donate to the charity in question!

That's why I never give money to charity workers going door to door.

So far, in two years of trumpeting, I've never been paid to play it. More importantly, however, nobody has ever paid me to STOP PLAYING. So, I guess I'm roughly breaking even. :dontknow:
