My friend, Phil Ruecktenwald, has passed away.
Phil, Dave Gale and I were the trumpets on the Bernstein recording of WSS.
Phil was first trumpet of the New York City Opera for many years.
    R.I.P. Dear Friend.

Wilmer, was that the same Dave Gale that played on Woody's band circa 1962? Is he related to Jack Gale the trombone player?

    You're right.
Dave was in the section with Bill Chase.
Dave has been a mainstay on Broadway for many years. He was the lead trumpet on Dreamgirls, Song and Dance and the entire run of Les Miz.
My first show with Jack was Good Time Charley in 1972. We have played Sweeney Todd together. Come to think of it, Jim Pugh was also in the bone section.
Jack has been a great brass arranger for many years. He has a book of Trumpet and Trombone duets out that are fun to play.

The Gale Brothers are Baddddddd :-)

Is Warren Gale any relation of theirs?
