Maurice Andre is the standard. You can't go wrong with him.

My favorite is Wynton's CD "In Gabriel's Garden". Unbelievable.

My favorite Maurice André album is called "Maurice André Joué Bach". It features the Brandenburg 2nd and him as soloist on the 2nd Suite of Bach. He plays the flute part better than most flutists I've heard. What is beautiful is not only his technical brilliance and warmth of sounding, is his phrasing and knack for playing every movement in a different tempo, each being perfect for the character of the respective dances.

This is on Erato and, I hope, still available.

Our very own Ed Carroll has a wonderful CD entitled "The Italian Trumpet". It is a two-CD set and chock full of great pieces and playing. You can hear clips here:

    I would recommend...

Wynton Marsalis "Baroque Music for Trumpet" (Solo rep)
Wynton Marsalis "Baroque Music for Trumpets" (Ensemble rep)
    Wynton Marsalis "In Gabriel's Garden"

Can you tell I love Wynton's picc playing? I think his style and ornamentation are fantastic.
