Playing "too cozy"...

    What I take from most of the posts is that, even at pp, the trumpet sound is full and warm (not thin), and at ff the sound is well-centered and under control (balanced and not out of control) with the rest of the players. This is a concept that I strive to maintain, particularly in settings where i play with other trumpet players in a section. Most of my paid work has had me playing with saxes and an occasional trimbone.

    If Local is busy, I teach.... That gives me a lot of practice in yelling, if Local is all tied up.... :cool:

    I teach but never yell. Though I have been accused of having no mercy by my students.

    dude, it appears you are from NYC --- why not just go try to "hail a cab" at rush hour -- that should give you some vocal opportunities to test out the theory!!! ROFL ROFL ROFL
