"Armstrong" is known by some, but not all who play brass instruments, but I find it primarily induced by the LEFT ARM, particularly the bend of the elbow.

In my younger days I would use a lot of pressure and multiple "sets" to get into the higher range. I started out with a high school band director who played trumpet and the upper register really came pretty natural. That band director left and my playing went down the drain. I spent the first few years of college undoing all of the bad habits I picked up without a teacher guiding me to do the right things. My trumpet professor in college helped me get rid of those different "sets" in my embouchure by playing flow studies and scales from low to high range. I continue to do the flow studies and lots of clark #1 in my daily routine to promote consistency from low to high.
