I'm looking for advice from those that have used a portable PA system for playing backing tracks as accompaniment in a solo performance setting. The last two Christmas seasons I have played holiday tunes with no accompaniment at local restaurants where I was paid by the restaurant owners and or allowed to receive tips from their patrons. Two restaurants have shown interest in me returning at other times to play standards and pop tunes.

I'm looking for a system with a decent sound that can provide backup music as well as amplify my sound. My thinking is that amplifying my sound will allow me to play softer and extend my endurance. I'm looking for something that is $1000 or less.
I've considered the Peavey escort 6000 and the Peavey Triflex. I think the Triflex may require a separate mixing board whereas the Escort has one built in.

I welcome any suggestions and advice from those that have experience with portable PA systems in a performance setting. Thank you.

Yamaha StagePAS series. Have used a model 400 extensively. Simply works.
