How very, very sad indeed. Maurice Murphy was one heck of a trumpet performer particularly the London Symphony Orchestra.
I was glad to see him get honoured 2 years ago at the ITG 33 in Banff, Alberta Canada. I met his wife. She was absolutely lovely.
My deepest condolences to her and her family.

To me Maurice Murphy's sound is the most amazing example of how a trumpet should sound. He had taken notes written on a page and created absolute magic. RIP to a legend of all time and condolences to his family, friends and all admirer's of his beautiful body of work of this humble and beloved man.

Truly sad news. He inspired so many musicians, he will be sorely missed.
