Did they do these at the factory or are the ones you come across all done as after-market refins? I'm talking bout the newer T3460 models.

in Sam Ash on 48th st, they had a nice looking raw brass vintage committee for about $999.
they also have some at Dillon's.
personally, i would not deal with a T3460.

Ditto what jamesfrmphilly said. go Vintage if you can find one dated from 1945 to the 1960's. that was when Reynold Schilke was building these horns. Most of the Martin Committee was schilke's design, reverse lead pipe, minimal bracing, cornet leadpipe that gradually widens as it makes the turn around the tuning crook. So far you just dont see all these inovations on a new Martin Committee.

Obviously, the previous respondents to this post did not answer the question that was posted. I have wondered about this, also. I suspect the previous owners did the lacquer-removal -- this was quite "the thing" to do a while back (probably still is, to some extent...), and is in the interest of "opening up" the response and smoothing the tone.
Don't think it was an option from the factory.... (I've been wrong before).

    Aftermarket.

Leblanc only offers lacquer (in various colors).

Maybe you meant to post that in the Conn thread?

So THAT is where that post went... I meant to post this over in the active Martin Committee discussion thread. The OP mentioned interest in a 22B. I'll repost. Thanks- I never would have found my list post!

I know a TM member that got a Deluxe Committee from Dillons in NYC for $1200. After another $3,000 for some work by Charlie Melk... He has a real nice horn.
