You know one of the great things about being a musician? No matter how good you think you're getting there is always somebody else that can wipe the floor with you. I've just been sitting listening to the live recording of Cherokee, what a section- Arturo Sandoval, Randy Brecker, Chuck Findlay and Byron Stripling. Personally I prefer Byron's solo spot...doesn't have the pyrotechnics but its lovely and musical.

Anyway after being rather smug about my playing recently after having passed a big milestone (for me anyway)..chromatic scale from G below the staff to G above HC and back, on one breath...I really need to go back and practice, practice, practice just to be able to hold my head up again. :)

that is one heck of a section for sure. I have seen stripling live and i think he is one of the strongest players i have ever seen in person. he is an animal!
