I was really glad to find this thread; especially because it was reassuring to find out that my child is not the only one who stuck a marble in their musical instrument. Mine stuck it in her trombone slide after professional trombone repairer using the marbles to repair dings. The marble got stuck. Very stuck. In the opening (fortunately). We couldn't find any ball bearings. We were getting ready to use bb's when we stopped at a toy store to see if they had any metal ball bearings or games with them. They didn't. But they had an air compressor. Blew that marble straight out like a shot! If you have valves though, I am not sure how well this will work...the water key broke soon after. Was it because of the air compressor? Don't know. But, if you find this thread --- maybe tape any keys/valves open before using an air compressor.

I hate to think what these kids will be like once they get drivers licenses............

All of my students know who to call if something stupid happens. There are more results than getting the marble removed............

it just seems some boys are more prone to do destructive things not on purpose but due to not thinking things through. had a friend that had two boys that were constantly destroying things and he said those boys could screw up an anvil with a q-tip.

I wonder how the boys did that? It took two of us just to lift my grandfather's and that was when I was in my prime physical condition and so was my uncle. Two anvils and a 1" thick sheet of plexiglas made a great coffee table which I sold for $1,000.00 after I used it 3 years and I didn't ever have to lift them again. "Piece of cake" with a refrigerator dolly they used.

Put a Chinese horn in the center of that coffee table and sell it to whoever finally buys the Red Rack

Possibly a Shop Vac hose could suction it out! I'd try it, but then it would have to be in one of my own instrument bells, not yours.

That's a reasonable question. My opinion is "None, unless its nothing special. Seems as though the good neighbor approach suggested that as one option, along with caution and a couple of possible (and ultimately THE)solution. However, if 'mom' was looking for advice on truing her bell or unsticking a valve due to a 'dinged' casing, the advise would be to see a horn doc. I'm fortunate enough to have a fine tech locally that takes care of everything from alignments to dent removal, part location (vintage) and at very reasonable rates. Unfortunately. some folk don't have the same opportunity. Truth is, my tech is so reasonable and worth giving the business to, that he now does many of the jobs such as polishing the silver horns that I used to do myself...but if I got a marble stuck I think that I also would have been looking here for an answer first.
