renuzit mute

    Used renuzit mute think its good doesn' t
    distrub neighbors but someone told me it could
    mess up ur chops? ? Anybody? Thanks Anthony

    Anthony,

    I don't think it could mess up your chops any more than any mute. I think the idea is that you don't want to develop your sound with too much time on a mute. It's intended for minimal use only, when you need it. If you didn't ALSO practice without a mute, I could see it messing with your chop development.

    How's the intonation on that homemade mute?

    It's a cheap (ie trumpet player) imitation of the Yamaha Silent Brass mute. Just make sure all the Renuzit is out of it first. Somebody told me that stuff is strong smelling that close to your nose.:roll:

    Renuzit mutes stay in tune very well. Even if you "stuff" them the sound stays pretty good and you can play even softer. I've actually played exercises on the mute once and then open and the sound was better on the open after running it once on the mute. I like them and make them for my students. The parents love me for it.

    my ex-teacher who is. Pro
    said. that it mess up ur chops my wife told me
    he doesn't know everything. She was right !
