Manny- Maybe this should be in the orchestral forum or the lounge, but I have my reasons for coming directly to you.

A position in a small local orchestra just opened (2, actually), and I plan on applying to audition. It's been quite some time for me since my last resume, and was wondering if you have any suggestions, tips, etc. on what to include in the cover letter and resume. How much weight do you put on those when you are deciding on a prospective candidate?

    Thanks.

    Glenn,

I would be most interested in with whom you studied and where you've played since college. Resumes are filled with a lot of fluff, to my way of thinking. Succinct is best but leave me with good information that helps me decide whether you have the knowledge for the job.
