Courtois trombones have the spring inside the rotor stop arm. Setting those rotors up is a royal pain.

That's part of the delight:evil: of the Hagmann valve they use.

My 1938 Heckel has adjustable clockwork springs, a gimbal and a prehistoric form of the xx-bal. Even after all of these years, they are ultimately reliable, even if the tolerances are not what they once were.

I have someone building my valves with the spring and linkage as I described right now. They are not in a hurry due to other commitments......, so I expect sometime in the fall that I can report on what I have. They will be an integral part of a rotary C that I have designed. The valves are not the only constructive change.........

I like the sweet brass knuckles grip it's got going there. Cool man!

    Ah, thanks.
But after I posted this I started thinking about how, with the right hand higher than the left, the trumpet would tend to want to rotate counterclockwise in your grip, and that isn't necessary...So I lowered the "brass knuckles" (it DID look like brass knuckles) downward so the the approximate center of the right palm would center with the left palm.
This also lessens mass of the moving linkages....

You'll have to ask George Schlub.
He's on vacation a few more days...
