I too have persistent heartburn. Rowuk, don't take this advice to you, but advice to others. For me the pills work too, but I hate the idea of taking pills everyday, even if the docs say they are safe. I found this book:Dropping Acid: The Reflux Diet Cookbook & Cure: Jamie Koufman, Jordan Stern, Marc Michel Bauer: 9780982708316: Amazon.com: Books

I followed the diet, and still do at least 5 days a week. My heartburn is gone, and I have lost weight (not my intention, but a happy byproduct).

Rowuk, wishing you a speedy recovery.

Idiot? You're human, and despite the general consensus, not a machine. I had pyloric sphincter problems as well. Which turned out to be related to my aortic aneurism, which is related to my atrial fibrillation, blah, blah, blah.
So you're not the only brassblower with bragging rights. Who was it, Nietzsche who said "what doesn't destroy me makes me stronger"? True. But then he also said, " The real man wants 2 things. Danger and play. For that reason he chooses Woman, as the most dangerous plaything". Cheers!

Sounds like you have had a rough time of it, but at least you should be on the mend now.

Take it easy but do try to avoid day time TV during your recovery.

Get well soon from all on this side of the pond.

Yes, he certainly doesn't want to degrade his mind.

We have missed you - and we certainly need you!

BTW I am visiting Musikmesse; any chance you will be nosing around?

Now you can devote your time for the next 3 months to straightening out all us hacks who post on TM...

Seriously, though, hope you make a full, fast recovery.

Sorry about your ordeal. Hiatal hernias are serious, I hope you recover well, it could have been worse. Nonetheless, it's a good warning to all to no ignore alarm bells from the body: pain in the stomach region is not normal and not to be brushed off, "periodic" vomiting is totally not normal.

Wow, that's a rough story to live through. Thank goodness that you finally have the cure needed to make things work
right again. Wow, just wow. Be well and take it easy.
