Screaming

    yes, morris, if only you were up with the latest in technology you too would be playing on a lead mouthpiece....the high density of this metal makes all the difference to a focussed tone in the upper register....plus it has quite a low melting point and if you soften it over a blow-torch you can make it fit the shape of your lips.

    but actually...the shape of your lips... maby that would be a good thing.... :)

    Robert, I was referring to screamingmorris's comment that his mouthpiece was a brass one not a lead one, which gave me quite a laugh...

    But, I agree, what would a mouthpiece be like that had a rim moulded to the shape of your lips?

    I took your advice and tragedy resulted.

    I put the torched lead to my face and it burned my lips off.

    Now I must eat a can of beans and back up to the trumpet.

    Which I must admit has improved my tone over the upstream embouchure I used to have, although my range is now limited to 2nd line G...

    Why would you do that? Use logic, its hot, your lips are sensitive.
