Hey Manny, I was wondering how you would set up seating for the 1812 overture. Up here in St. Cloud we have the bones behind us, so I was wondering how you would put the trumpets. Eb's to the right or left? Or would you have both firsts on the inside next to each other? I have seen it done a couple of different ways, but I was curious as to what you ould do. Thanks,

    Patrick

Typically, cornet writing from the 19th century is more melodic than trumpet writing but in the Russian tradition, it's only slightly less so than French writing. The point is that the cornets will have more in common with the woodwinds so, the cornets should sit closer to the woodwinds.

As for seating, I say go with cornets 1-2 trumpets 1-2, cornets closer to the center.
