Simile marks

    Can someone clarify if a simile marks has four bars accross it and then say the number 3 above it does it mean you play the last four bars again 3 times?

    Sounds about right, Alan. The alternative would be 3 4-slash similes.

    Yes you are correct, they indicate the preceding groups of beats or measures that are to be repeated, in this case four.
