A trombone is crucial, all the best bands have em =)

Trumpet and Trombone go like a BigMac and Heart Attacks...

I just downloaded Save Ferris. The first album was really awesome.
The last one was pretty bad cuz it went pop and punk with a hint of ska and that totally ruined it. Otherwise, it's a good band =)

Sounds like what happened to Less Than Jake... I hated their new album. THeir is liek a total of 2 ska songs and the only one I liked was on the ep.

I come from Old School Ska: The Specials, Selector, English Beat, and believe it or not when UB40 first started out they were Ska. The best music they ever did was an export called Signing Off. It wish I still had it, because it was the best music they put out. I would love to get a recording of it. It was a 2 "album" set. One was "regular" speed and the other had just a few songs on it (ep?) but they were awesome. I'm actually thinking about playing Mariachi (Caleixico), so I feel your pain!!

We're starting a new ska-jazz band, building from a now defunct ska-punk band (Rockeurs de Valves - here on YouTube. No, it's not me on the trumpet. And there's a sax now. And the singer is the drummer :) )

    Favourites are amongst:

    - Skatalites
    - Skalariak
    - NY Ska Jazz Ensemble
    - Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra
    - Jim Murple Memorial
    - Les Fils de Teuhpu
    - Ska Cubano
    - Lenningrad
    - Afro-beat orchestra
    - Bad Manners
    - Dr. Calypso
    - The Adjusters
    - The Aggrolites
