So I bought a new copy of Arban's this week, and it came in Monday. After three days I really can't tell any difference, so I suppose I'll have to get my horn out and actually play the music.......

Let us know what you find. Not sure what Arbans im getting, I just know one of them the teacher is buying. Most likely the latest one.. unless the older ones are available to be bought new.

That "actually play the music" part has been working pretty well for me!

Unless you have a specific reason for a "different" version I'd recommend the standard version with the red cover.

It's been around for so long in the same format that people regularly reference page numbers when referring to specific exercises.

Humm. Maybe it's a US thing. Here's the one that I've seen the most over the last 30 years or so:

No, it's not just a US thing.

Mine has the red cover too.

I originally had the beige one, Boosey and Hawkes edition, but then got the Carl Fischer one as it has the 150 popular tunes and 68 duets sections. All the other method exercises are the same.
