Some questions related to harry james...

    Two questions

    What mouthpiece did Harry play before the parduba

    and

    Are the Harry James method book still available, I would love to try playing his trumpet for concerto or his variation on the Flight of the Bumblebee, or more like try :-P

    I have a copy of his method, but I think it's out of print.

    I find it interesting that people claim he used various embouchures, but it's clear from his picture and description in the method that he used a relaxed embouchure that doesn't really fit in any description. It looks like the infamous "smile", but he tells you to use tension on the upper lip and bring the corners DOWN.

    Well is the pdf file of the book floating around anywhere....because Harry, to me was the greatest player ever, his concerto for trumpet blew me away!, and it be great if I could get a chance to play some of his songs and use his method book

    an hour into trying to perform the concerto for trumpet....so ridiculously hard

    That is difficult , all right. Shows what a fine technician and all-around player Harry was for so many years and in different styles with the times.:-)
