I am getting my basement finished up and am going to sound-proof one room for practicing.
Here's the issue - this room is has heating/AC vents in it, which act as nice conduits for sound.

Has anyone had any luck soundproofing a room with vents in it that are connected to the rest of the house?

I have only had luck with "room in room" designs. Sound like water will find its way if there are any cracks open.

On the other hand, putting a "door" over the vents could let you acoustically block them when practicing. To leave the vents open, you would have to use out of phase antisound like with noise reducing headphones.
