When practicing do you sit or stand?

    Pros and cons?

I stand but that's only because I don't have a good seat to practice in.

I do both, usually depending where I am and whether I am tired etc. If you have to play a gig sitting, could pay to practice the same way. If you have to play a gig standing, could pay to practice standing up to get used to it.

    You'll need both,
a lot playing is sitting (band, orchestra) and a bunch is standing (jazz band, solo stuff)
I tend to mix up and like tuneful, it often more depends on how i'm feeling than some grand plan

I have my students stand while warming up and sit while playing lesson.

I sit when warming up/technique, and stand while playing methods/solo work, because that is my main duty.

Same here... and I do the same as well, but this is mostly because all but one of my students does marching band. ;-)

    depends on what i'm practicing.

if i'm practicing my d & b corps music i practice that standing for two reasons: 1. i'll be standing while playing it anyway b. those constant fast high notes are easier to hit if i'm standing, i can breathe easier.

if it's ensemble music then i do that sitting. that's easier, more relaxing, less demanding.

I always stand, I seem to play better that way. Plus Jazz band has gotten me into it!:D

It depends on what I am practicing.

If I am sitting during the piece I sit for practice.

If I am standing during the piece, I stand.

Warm up and technical - I let my conscience be my guide.

I almost always practice standing. No real reason, I just get antsy I guess. :dontknow:
