too pretty because the style in which this totally professional trio chose to play it.

It would be like hearing them play MF's "Give It One" in the same manner. Just not the way I would want to hear it played.

I'm pretty sure that I've gigged with one of those West Point guys.

One person's music is another one's noise.

I find that the trumpet trio has chops, but played a style inappropriate to the work, making it, for me, not musical.

Yeah... this comes at just the right time for me as I am performing the Anthem at a fairly large public event on Saturday and am trying to decide how far I want to take expression into my own hands and how much I want to stay pretty "straight" with it. I've always SAID that performers take it too far and that there's really one "correct" way toplay it... bt when youhave the chance to actually do it you want to perform a little bit... kind of a balancing act.

I had some ex-military band directors that made it clear: it is plain wrong to mess with school fight song or the National Anthem. They tolerated a high C during the "...land of the free..." but little less.

The crowd is supposed to sing along, and need a strong melody line to do so.

Comparing the two , i find i like them both ,for different reasons .To be honest they both are at least respectful ,not like the time Rosane Barr did it ,she should have been Booed for that.

You mean the one that starts: "My Country, 'Tis of Thee?"

    Shame on you.

Having said that Flower of Scotland at Murrayfield with Pipes and Brass Bands takes some beating
