I have started playing after a 20 year layoff and I'm really enjoying it. My trumpet is in good shape but could use some minor dings taken out. I found a fellow by the name of Tuck Tillier in NY that does work at a very reasonable price. My trumpet is a Olds Mendez 1964 and it means alot to me. Has anyone had work done by Mr.Tellier and were you satisfied.

Great to hear you're back in the game. I wish I could give you a reference on Tuck, however, if you talk to the music stores in your area they can tell you who they recommend.
    Good Luck

I bought an Olds Ambassador from Tuck that he had overhauled and refurbished. It was very nice and a reasonable price. However, I did not see it before it was redone so I can't say in a lot of detail how well his dent removal technique worked. There were none when I received it but perhaps there were none to start with, I don't know. But, he seems honest and conscientious and he handles a lot of different trumpets of different years and models. So, unless there is something unusual about the dents in your Mendez, I see no reason why he can't do as good a job as anyone with this project.

Thanks for the replies about Tuck. He does seem like a very nice man that is trying to offer a service to help people, not just to make money. That's hard to fine. I would also like to know if refurbishing can change anything about how the Mendez plays. The value action and sound of this instrument has always been outstanding and I would like for that to remain. Any suggestions on what to request and what not to have done.
