And now, the end is near
And so they face the final curtain
My friend, I'll say it clear
Inside my case, of which I'm certain

    I've lived a life that's full
I played my Bach along every highway
And more, much more than this
    I loved my Steinway

    Regrets, I've had a few
    Not buying a Kanstul, I shouldn't mention
I did what I had to do
Played tones so long with much retention

    I planned each charted gig
Each bar and joint along the byway
And more, much more than this
    I loved my Steinway

Yes, there were times, I'm sure you knew
When I blew a 37 bell or two
But through it all, when there was doubt
I took a big breath then spit it out

Took another in and I stood tall
    I loved my Steinway

I've loved, I've laughed and cried
When playing clams, my share of losing
    And now, as tears subside
I find the note upon the page so amusing

And may I say, not in a shy way
Oh, no, oh, no, not me, I loved my Steinway

For what is a man, what has he got?
If only a Martin, without red rot
To say the things he truly feels
Right on TM, where no one kneels

The record shows I took the blows
    And loved my Steinway

Your song brought tears to my eyes, man. :grouphug:

Also ... talking about my lightweight 43 Kohlberg and Company Stradivarius just doesn't have the same ring to it. :-)

But like I said, I hope it's a good move for Bach.

Not likely, in the short term anyway. Private equity usually buys companies to squeeze out more revenue then sell it again (in whole or in pieces) or take it public.

Will we now be discussing the relative merits of "Steinway Bachs" and "Post-Steinway Bachs"? Should the Bach brand no longer continue I wonder what that would mean for the wide Strad playing community, particularly those orchestras I hear about who "standardise" on Bach Strads.
