I love the sound of a trumpet, but I have very unusual and eclectic musical tastes. I am looking for suggestions on trumpet music recordings in somewhat of an ambient style, or what might also be called space music. In general I do not like jazz music, so please don't suggest anything that has a strongly jazz style to it. Any ideas?

Chris Botti is ambient and not too jazzy in my opinion. Ed Carroll is my trumpeter #1 for unusual and eclectic, but he is not too ambient in my opinion.

The best album for you is unfortunately out of print. It was called Trumpetissimo and was played by Maurice André. Maybe with a bit of luck you could find it here:

Andre Maurice Trumpet Concertos Albums, CDs, Vinyl Records and LPs.

    Other trumpeters of interest:
    Sergei Nakariakov
    Ole Edvard Antonsen
    Alison Balsom (WOW! What ambience!)

Listen to Don Ellis' album titled "Haiku".
