    You really need an attitude adjustment. Someday you might actually create something original - how would you feel if it was stolen?

    Hi Katz, a music forum is probably not the best place to express such a libertarian view about copyright :-)

    You might like to place a higher value on your practice time too - add up the hours you think that you'll dedicate to playing this stuff and spread the cost of the books over that time - books are cheap.

    There are however lots of good freebies that you can find on the net along with material that you can pay a small amount for and get instantly. The already mentioned Arbans has enough stuff to keep most of us out of trouble.

    Search for Eric Bolvin, Charlie Porter or Greg Spence - they have several good instructional videos. I liked Eric's stuff so much, I paid to download a couple of his books.
