Thank you for the question. I teach Music (capitalization intended) through trumpet playing. This includes all elements associated with the melody instrument that is the trumpet. For instance, at one lesson this week I was showing a student the effect of there being an anacrusis to a melody - what difference there was between melodies with and without these anacruses. Most all my teaching is done with real music examples. I also encourage students to write/play their own melodies, particularly as settings to (mainly 19th century) poetry, and also to assign words to melodic fragments which give them trouble. I am aware of many shortcomings of musical notation, and show students how, by overcoming these shortcomings, their Music improves. Any more info needed - read my blogs!
