My recent thread asked for an explaination of "Partcial Series". I received a very good and lengthy answer to that question, and I do have a better understanding now. BUT! Will someone explain the relative importance of understanding the partcial series to performance. I know knowledge has it's advantages, but how will knowledge of the partcial series make me a better player?

    It won't.

As long as you know the notes on your trumpet and which ones need adusting by moving the first and/or third slides, and you can read the music and all that good stuff, you don't need to know the partial series.

But understanding how your instrument works often helps people who teach do a better job when faced with students who have problems.
