The mental side of trumpet playing

    so sad, so very sad --- it's probably a woodwind player -- or a percussionist who just BEAT himself up over his substance abuse.

    Yes, brain can be our worst enemy or our best ally. It depends on the mode its in. Do not think about how high higc C is, do not think how hard is to play an octave slurred jump. Just think musically. The worst thing one can do is to think of high notes and putting all the pressure in the neck lips , mpc etc

    just think about garden hose, and how when you squeeze a garden hoze a high pitched flow of water comes out. it is the same as high notes on trumpets, they are nt higher -they are just air going faster and lips buzzing on higher frequency

    or think about 2 stroke motorcycle engine revving up on 12.000 rpm -anything but high notes
