When I got my used trumpet a few weeks ago, I opened up the case, and took out the misc. items that were in it, included an almost-empty bottle of valve oil. When I went to close the case up again, the bottle had vanished. I looked everywhere, around the chair I was sitting in, in the case, etc. Nowhere. I blamed our beagle, who will sometimes carry around small objects, but I thought it was strange that I never found it.

Today when I was practicing, I noticed that the case has a space under the raised area that holds the trumpet in place. Sure enough, there was the bottle hidden under there.

Many of the older cases were built that way and things can hide under there.

My case has that too. I find it useful for keeping items your carry in surplus. The kids I teach never have oil, so I always provide. So I stash Blue Juice in mine. :)
