Remember Jackie Vernon?
holy crap, that's exactly what I was thinking!
Isn't he the guy that plays the melody with his nose?
Saw him on the tonight show a few times. He's a heckuva funny guy too.
Pete would do that....he would play the piano....he mostly told the funniest stories you ever heard...like the old guy with the trumpet in a paper bag.....
He would bring a plunger and put it on the side of the piano, then put his cigar in the stick hole.
He was / is a funny guy.
Watch the look he gives the band when they come in!
Check out his site....FUNNY STORIES
I forwarded this to Brian McWhorter and told him I want to play this for my recital. For some strange reason I haven't heard back from him.
At first I thought it wasn't so bad...then after about half way through I had to stop it!
Oh man, Barbutti's story about his beat up horn and the old man ... classic!
Pete_2007 (channel 2, 2nd clip)
That sounds like it could have been on the flip side of Lawrence Welk's "Calcutta" maybe featuring "our fine young ah-trumpet man Johnny Zell"!!!
some threads should remain dead and buried... and now I that I have heard it there is no way to unhear it ... thanks olbrneyes ...eeerrggg
