Are there any music originally written for a trumpet in the key of H? (B natural not B flat) I see a couple of old rotary trumpet with a H slide and a B slide and wondered, if there were any musical pieces written for the key in B?

Opera literature is full of transpositions low G, Ab, A, Bb, B, C, D, Eb, E, F. I cannot imagine any serious modern orchestra player getting horns in all of those pitches unless they had a historical gig.

Sight-read some Verdi Opera with the orchestra in Hof, Germany--thankfully only the second read-through for the orchestra, and the guy I was subbing for didn't tell me it was in E.

    Highly chromatic, too.

    Thanks for the gig, Duane.

Just look at the overture to "Carmen" - eleven changes of pitch in one piece!! Horrible!
