The Olds Ambassador is a fantastic horn that easily outclasses the Yahmaha 2335 at a price point you can't beat. Your daughter rocks...Good for her...The olds is a good horn...she'll have fun using it and possibly abusing :) They are my favorite budget horn for the 100-500 price range. I think you can do so much worse.

If your daughter is taking private lessons, ask her teacher to get involved. Of the 2 models you mentioned in your post, the TR300 is not an intermediate level horn, but the Yamaha is. Of the 2 and assuming there's nothing wrong with either, Yamaha is the winner. The progression from beginner to intermediate to pro horn is not absolutely necessary. If your daughter is responsible you could get her a used pro horn.

Yamaha, Getzen and Bach intermediate horns are very nice. Try to enlist the help of a trumpet player to evaluate the condition of any used horn.

It does not need to be a Recording. Every other Olds model is a professional level trumpet - the only difference is the sound that they make and the trappings. So, that allows for upgrades to Special, Studio, SuperStar, Opera, Super...well, you get the point. Some even want to have one of each.
