I am among one of those highly interested in getting a Silver Flair engraved. Just curious as to cost and workmanship. Can't just send my baby off to anyone not knowing what I'm getting into.

Well, pricing is a very subjective point.

I don't see anywhere that anyone but Sherrie has any prices listed anywhere.

I am pretty sure that the only reason she does is because she works from patterns.

Which means she does the design enough times to know how long it will take.

Hence, those from patterns are similar to each other, not necessarily one of a kind.

As far as knowing who you are sending too, There are a couple of excellent music stores that will accept receipt and reshipping, then I will engrave it .

Or you can ship directly to my place via UPS/FED-X/USPS.

Also can have the re-plateing/lacquering,done to professional standards, at either place.

Either place can do any prep work that may need to be done, dents, polishing, etc...

Payment can also be made through them, via whatever method is agreeable.

Mostly,I don't charge for design workup,as long as i have artistic license.

    Or,if you supply the design.

I keep the rights to my own designs. Unless other arrangements are made between us.

I dont charge for lunch hour ,or any other breaks from the job at hand, if i have to answer the phone,I turn off the clock. If I have to sharpen the graver, thats part of the job.

Once I begin working on the actual horn/instrument,which includes the actual laying out of the design, and the cutting,i start the clock.

As for amount of coverage per hour,is also very hard to quote, without knowing the amount of detail, how many lines per inch will be as varied as the design calls for.

Every job gets MORE than is charged for , because thats how I do things, how much more?,as much as is needed to make me feel good about the job,and you to feel you got true value for your investment.

That being said: My standard rate is $50 per. hr.

If you feel the need to go through the store method,I believe, thats another 20%.

But then they will be guaranteeing the job ,and insuring the horn while its here.

    Hope that answers your questions/concerns.

An excellent reply to my query! Thanks, and believe me when I say only the time involved can determine the price, being in a similar situation myself. Thanks!

Is there a way we could know how many hours it took to produce some of your samples? That would give people an idea of what they're getting into.
