I just got my hands on a really really really old trumpet etude book. On several pages there is the signature of Edward L. Lewis. Now I know its a long shot, but does anyone know of this man?

Well, Edward Lee Lewis seems to have done his doctorate on that photographic study, and that not too long ago. You might really google him and see what's what. However, be prepared for a possible shock. The fact that his trumpet etude book turned up somewhere might mean that either he has given up the trumpet or that he is no longer with us.

That is Edward R Lewis. Keep looking and you will find Edward L Lewis, an older, but still active trumpeter. Was good enough to make a living teaching and playing.
