Trumpet playing protocol and suggestions?

    I couldn't even fit a violin, let alone a viola in the oven of our kitchen stove to do the test. Another unknown variable is the quality of the strings. All I can say is a string broke on a violin and lashed her deeply across her upper right arm just below the shoulder ... and abruptly ended her playing any musical instrument. Yes, as a segment of the string is heated I do believe it would stretch, and in the next instant when it separates it becomes a wild reckless whip much worse than a "Cat O' Nine tails".

    Offer him lesson at a reasonable rate, suggesting everyone's sound and technique can benefit for a few lesson. :D

    Suggestion: try for the American accent portion of the contest, that might have the best odds.
