trumpet refinishing

    Goodmorning, I want to have my 1947 Martin committee trumpet refinished.Any suggestions who or where I can send it to do the best job with a decent turnaround time. any help will be appreciated.----Gary-;-)

    You could send it to Kanstul in Anaheim California. They could do any type of finish for you. Mine took about 2 weeks to be completed and they did an excellent job.

    There is an outfit that flies under the name Oh Alaska that does some really pretty brass rebuilds. The also sell horns that they have restored. If you have a fairly common horn they just might have one in stock already restored or improved upon. You may find some of their horns advertised on Ebay although I haven't noticed them lately. I believe, and I may be wrong, that the actual work is done in Kansas. The beauty of their work has really impressed me far beyond what most others have created.

    There are several posts on this forum that mention this shop:

    Best Instrument Repair is located at 546 14th Street in Oakland California. It is Dick Akright's shop, excellent work.


    I have not personally used them but I did not find any negative comments. They would be the closest one to you, I would guess.
