    ML-

A colleague of yours was kind enough to lend me his horn for a recent performance; it didn’t seem to “hold together†very well…

Have you seen any evidence of this in Orchestra Hall?

Will do... ASAP. (Probably a month or so; DVD forthcoming... maybe an ITG premier?)

I'd let everybody in on it, but it would spoil the suprise.

I suppose this thread really belongs in the horns forum; but since it started here and the instrument in question has such strong ties to the Minnesota Orchestra, I figured I would leave it in Manny's 911.

My real interest is to find out everybody's opinions regarding the sound of this horn throughout the piece. It seems to "break up" near the end.

Here's a link to the video:

Finally, an appropriate setting for performing on Chinese trumpets.

You know, I was thinking, from a theory/analysis perspective, the piece needs a more "explosive" ending. ;)

The only downside to this piece is, there's going to be a limited number of performances...unless, as some of the other guys suggested, you're in china.

Seriously though I started pondering my own frustrations (and we've all had them) in the practice room and I thought to myself...how liberating would it be to perform a piece like this!!

    Nice job Kelly...

    Kelly,

You really are nuts, man... I mean, seriously.

To use an electric saw when the piece clearly calls for a gas powered device? I don't know what to think anymore, man.
