Trumpeters in the 60s..?

    I can't believe no one mentioned the real "Pops", the father of modern jazz, Louis Armstrong.

    Al Hirt probably had the most trumpet-playing commercial hits during the 60's, appeared on numerous TV shows, won a few Grammys, and was well known by the general population. He was a fantastic trumpet player, too.

    I realized I didn't know too many from other countries as i was doing this ..wow a revelation
    sorry about the Wayne mess up.. the album I was thinking actually had Chet Baker paying on it
    I can't believe I didn't think of Raphael Mendez .. he was incredibly gifted

    Since you're also looking for somebody that's easy to find information about, I'd go for Miles .... One of the biggest trumpeters, overall, with loads of information about him, recordings, footage, etc.
