Tuner frequency

    Hi i have a KORG TM-40 i am playing the cornet does anyone know what frequency it should be set at? many thanks.[​IMG]

    A=440 for America, A=442 or 443 for Germany. Other countries will chime in soon.

    Whatever the rest of the band is tuned to surely?

    I've always used A=440 in the US, but I've played with and conducted bands in Germany which are also tuned to A=440, so I don't really know what the standard really is. I suppose whatever is the convention in your region - or what the conductor insists on.

    "mm" is actually "Maelzels Metronome", a unit of time (BPM), not pitch.

    Probably the most important lesson here is that EVERYONE tunes before playing. Whether an electronic tuner is the best way or not is perhaps a discussion for another thread.

    Just out of curiosity, are you asking because you have an older Cornet and it doesn't seem to tuning the way you would expect?

    Except ME - apparently I tune to 441.5 - but I'm REALLY good at it :oops:
