In one of the pieces that I'm playing, I have to switch between fluglehorn and trumpet a few times, but our school only has one fluglehorn. So I tried using the flugelhorn mouthpiece on my trumpet, and it sounded somewhat more like a fluglehorn.

I'll bet the intonation was sweet...

I've used a flugelhorn mouthpiece in a cornet before that sounded pretty good. Curry makes mouthpiece that has a trumpet shank with a flugel cup that will correct the intonation issues Dale is referring to. I don't know that it would take the place of a flugel though.
