So, I had my very first private trumpet lesson last Thursday morning with Claude Gordon student Bruce Haag. Bruce has performed in Las Vegas at several casinos as a Lead player; with Stan Kenton and with Elvis Presley. I was able to play down into the pedal register; however, must work on my notes below Pedal C. Range wise, I played up to a pretty strong Double C in the second study in Systematic Approach. Bruce made some suggestions on my right thumb placement, angle that I am striking the valves (I was too straight up and down) ... as well as how to make the notes below pedal C speak better. Really enjoyed this lesson and it is nice to know that I am doing some things right. Jealous as Bruce has several Claude Gordon Benge Trumpets in these gun rack like glass cases ... really nice family and studio as well.

I recommend a lesson with Bruce in person or via the internet.

Bruce is a GREAT guy. He is also a Kanstul rep and got me a great deal on my 1526 Flugelhorn. When I came over, he was just finishing an online lesson. He is first class all the way.
