So I have found that I can play a given note in my range pretty loudly if the note is long enough to build up to the sound. The problem is that, up higher, I tend to start much quieter and have to use a few counts to build up to the sound, but that obviously wouldn't work playing a short note. Are there any exercises I can do to increase my initial volume on those higher notes while keeping control of the sound? Thanks.

    Welcome to TM, bavestry!

One thing to try is the obvious--play a bunch of random short notes at the desired volume.
