Has anybody had a chance to check out the Washington Symphonic Brass? I've seen them a couple times w/ a killer section (Chris Gekker, Phil Snedecor, and Bob Birch)

    Farnham (a place too smal
A superb group and a bunch of really nice guys. I have exchanged a few emails with Phil Snedecor and he has been really encouraging and helpful with every query.
Their arrangement of Sing Sing Sing is truly spectacular

That is a good arrangement. Although I don't really like listening to "classical" musician's trying to solo in a jazz context. It rarely sounds good. When the Lincoln center jazz orchestra played on stage w/ the new york philharmonic phil smith took a solo and it just sounded bad. I worship him as a trumpet player and classical musician...but in jazz....no.
